About Domain

Where stories find their structure

Domain started in 2021 as a straightforward idea: plot development is a learnable skill, not a mysterious talent, and people across Canada deserved access to real instruction on it. We run live webinars because narrative craft gets sharper in dialogue, not isolation.

How we actually work

Each webinar is a working session, not a lecture. Participants bring their own story problems — a second act that stalls, a climax that lands flat, an opening chapter no one finishes — and we work through the mechanics together in real time.

Our instructors draw from dramatic theory, screenwriting practice, and fiction analysis rather than any single school of thought. The aim is to give writers a flexible structural vocabulary they can apply regardless of genre or format.

"

Plot problems rarely live where you first spot them. A weak ending usually started with an unresolved setup in chapter two."
